Mr. Endri XHINA, Managing Director of ICT Education had a presentation at Microsoft Developers Day Conference.
The conference took place on 20 May 2011, at Hotel Adriatic in Durres, Albania. The presentation of Mr. XHINA have been focussed on Designing Partitions to Improve Query Performance. The presentation showed how partitioning have evolved in SQL Server from the SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008. Main concepts behind partitioning have been introduced as well as recommendations on when to implement partitions are given. A section of the presentation have been dedicated to the management of clustered and non clustered indexes on partitioned tables.
A real life example is presented to show how to create and manage partitioned tables in SQL Server 2008 R2. The example used Transact-SQL statements to create and manage the partition table. To show the new GUI tools to manage table partitioning, introduced with version R2 of SQL Server 2008, some examples are showed as well.
